Design Really Matters

Design Really Matters

Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about the complicated things that we forget to think about the really simple things…things which can make or break a business and which can mean the difference between a company just swimming and doing an amazing front crawl (rather than a lame doggy-paddle). One of these things, at least in my opinion, is design. It’s something we regularly overlook and it’s exactly what’s being discussed at this link: http://www.enigindesign.com/2010/05/20/why-design-is-important-to-enigin/

It’s a valid question: Read the rest of this entry »

Reading The Signs

June 21st, 2010

Weather-men and women get a really hard time of it, don’t they? They are the people who get all the blame when it rains instead of snows, even though there is a team of tens of people working behind the scenes to obtain the information that is presented on the screen. I say give these poor people a break, would you! Predicting the weather may have become something we barely give a thought to, but if you research it you Read the rest of this entry »

LG steam machine

LG steam machine

The kitchen is the heart of the house (well technically it is a furnace run off of some great boiler juice but the kitchen is the emotional heart of a house), a flurry of activity takes place in this room alone, be it cooking, cleaning and entertaining. Many machines are required in day-to-day activities in the kitchen, they use lots of energy as they all work hard. The washing machine is particularly hard working, washing and spinning nearly twice a Read the rest of this entry »

Anti-Social Networking.

Anti-Social Networking.

Social Networking is big business these days. Just about anyone who is anyone can be found on Facebook, Bebo, My Space or somewhere similar. You can chat to one another, share your photographs or arrange a party; it’s no wonder why these sites are so popular amongst modern teenagers.

But there can be a darker side to it all. Social Networking sites can also be terrible places for cyber-bullying, hate campaigns and general poisonous gossip. They can be instrumental in Read the rest of this entry »

Get Some

April 14th, 2010

Getting your five-a-day is a right old hassle, isn’t it? If you’re working in central London, for example, even finding a shop which sells decent fruit and veg can be a tall order. In an ideal world there would be people on motorbikes who speed about the city carrying fresh fruit and veg (not to mention copious amounts of chocolate), and all you’d need to do to get some would be flag one of these down…

But alas it Read the rest of this entry »

Slip Slips

March 22nd, 2010

Slippers get a raw deal and it’s not fair! How severe is this raw-deal? Pretty severe as it goes: in the last twenty years even serial-killers have become fashionable and likeable, while slippers, yes SLIPPERS, have been left behind to rot in the pool of unfashionable taboos, along with donning shell-suits as a family and actively listening to the legend that is Chesney Hawkes. For years—or maybe even eternities—they have been the laughing-stock of the foot dwelling world. Mocked, ridiculed Read the rest of this entry »

Chat Time

March 19th, 2010

I like a good chat. It can be the thing which elevates my day from bad to good, and what’s more it is FREE! (That said, if there was a reputable chat service which guaranteed me happiness then I might give it a go. And let’s clarify: when I say ‘happiness’ I mean putting a smile on my face by the processing of a conversation about birds of prey or the latest film, and for a price somewhat less than Read the rest of this entry »

Greenhouses ARE Cool

Greenhouses ARE Cool

It may not be something you hear from the mouths of the youth today (Friend 1: “Hey, have you heard the new Lily Allen song?” Friend 2: “No way man, I don’t care about that, Greenhouses are totally cool and that’s all that’s on my mind these days!”) but Greenhouses are actually pretty darn cool, dude. I know this because last week I took a trip in to my Nan’s Greenhouse, a place where I had previously avoided like Read the rest of this entry »

Secret Silence

March 17th, 2010

I don’t like talking to people when I am on my way to places, but no matter how hard I try I seem to attract people who want to talk to me. It can be infuriating at times, being sought after as the oracle of talking, but I have an ingenious way of avoiding it: I wear ear-muffs intended for use with pneumatic drills and other horrible noisy things.

With my ear-muffs on, the world is silent and peaceful. There Read the rest of this entry »

Biggest Debate Of All Time

March 17th, 2010

No, I’m not on about a conspiracy theory, JFK or why on earth post-it notes are still produced which do not have an adhesive strip–(although that last one certainly deserves intensive government intervention because frankly it’s extremely annoying), I’m on about making tea: teapot or in the cup. The argument rages on as to which one is best! At least it does if you’re English. It’s something which, if brought up late in the evening, keeps any tea-obsessed English Read the rest of this entry »
